The Chinese fashion experiences the time’s change, which means the Chinese culture develops following the change of age. 中国的时尚经历了时间的变化，这就意味着中国文化随着时代的变化而发展。During the development of China’s culture, it is expressed through dress changes, lifestyle changes and thinking changes. 在中国文化的发展过程中，它通过服装的变化，生活方式的改变和思想的变化表现出来。When people talk about fashion, it can be seen as a symbol of culture’s develop, and also it can be regarded as the dead of a kind of culture. Fashion not only means what people pursuit the advanced thing at their age but also means what the ages force people to correct themselves to adjust. China’s fashion faced the challenge of politic force and the traditional thinking elements.
The Culture Revolution is the death of fashion in China’s culture. 文革在中国文化时尚的死亡。The dress at that time was totally outdate.这个时期的衣服样式完全过期。People were controlled and forced to wear the old clothes. The Culture Revolution had not made a progress of China’s culture. The policy made people wear the most plain garments because the government propagandized that the more plain your clothes, the more revolutionary people considered you to be (Macfarquhar, R and Schoenhals, 2006).The policy at that time called for against four olds, and they sang revolution song everyday. Meanwhile, the policy required people wear the “three old styles” and “three old colors” (Macfarquhar, R and Schoenhals, 2006). Dress is the visual change of culture. The deadly fashion of Culture Revolution can be reacted by dress style. 文革时期时尚的消亡可由穿衣风格表现出来。
The root reason that people were willing to wear old style dress is not that people do not know what is fashion and what is the world trend but they have to follow the politic force. 人愿意穿旧风格的礼服的根本原因是没有人不知道什么是时尚，什么是世界的潮流，但他们必须遵循的政治力量。It is the policy makes people accept what the fashion is at their time, and force them to correct their own realization of fashion. Actually, it is the coercive political stuff kill people’s thinking and creativity. In addition, the Culture Revolution makes China behind the development of the world because it just focus on controlling all aspects of people and ignores the trend of world. However, fashion push China’s culture develop. Although, the development faces the challenge of politic force, there are still lot of people launching anti-activity to against the policy. For example, Mao’s wife, JiangQing who was a member of Gang of Four created fake collar which is a big step of the development of dress. When it comes to the evolving of qipao, it first wore by ShangHai students, and then it was accepted by young ladies (Finnane, 1996). The politic force can kill new things, but it also can produce something new. It needs the hero to push the society to develop.
The Culture Revolution is the death of fashion while the Opening Door promote the fashion move on. 文革是时尚的死亡期而改革开门却促进了时尚的发展。People’s dress style and lifestyle changed under the policy.在政策的影响下人们的穿衣风格和生活风格发生了改变。 Chinese culture began to accept the western culture. The power of politic is great in China, but people’s thinking is more powerful. If the conservational thinking exist in people’s mind ineradicably, it is hard to chang (William, 2001).
On the other hand, Chinese culture and China’s fashion face the challenge of traditional thinking elements. The Culture Revolution makes China behind the world several decades. Therefore, when the fashionable thing come out they cannot adapt soon. Usually they will oppose at the first time. This is the reason they thought the fashion dress up as bizarre looks, especially for old people (Guo, 2000). The old age people experienced the Culture Revolution and they used to be the old fashion. The young people’s dress make old people feel strange because their mind keep the remain of old culture, which force them stay in their age. Disco dancing, sunglasses, pop music, T-shirts and short-sleeved shirts are bizarre looks for people. In the majority of people’s mind, these people wear odd clothes and talk about women and sex are unhealthy. However, there always exist this kind of people who lead Chinese people to realize fashion, to accept new thing, to against old fashion and to make progress of China’s culture, such as, the painter Yuan Yunsheng, the youth Pan Xiao. They the creation of fashion. They are the leader of age. The conflicts between new and old promote the development of China’s culture. The appearance of “bizarre looks” and the painting of nude female body marked the new fashion must break conservation. It will totally change people’s mind of arts and culture.

On the other hand, fashion push society make progress (Craik, 1994). During the period of Chinese culture’s development, the politic force, the traditional thinking and the reactionary people kill the fashion at their time, which makes China behind the world. However, it is common to make mistakes on the road. What important thing is there still couples of people bring Chinese to the new century and lead people to accept fashion.
